About Clueseum

What is Clueseum?

Clueseum is an early beta of a guide that turns a place into a story. It takes you from stop to stop, tells you what happened there and shows you where to look, so you notice what you would otherwise walk past.

Your guide is Simorgh, a teal bird with the voice of a scholar-adventurer: curious, warm and a bit funny.

This website is an early test. We are trying three walks, Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris, and we want to learn which parts you enjoy. Stories come first; the points, quests and questions are a light layer on top.

Why we are building it

You visit a place and it feels like nothing. A statue, a painting, an old building. You take a photo and move on.

Later, a podcast tells you the story of that place, and you realise what you missed: the statues, the paintings, the small details.

Clueseum gives you that story while you are still there.

Who is it for? Can I use it from home?

Yes. There are two ways in.

Travelling to Berlin, Amsterdam or Paris?

Use the ready-made walks. Follow the route on your phone, or plan it before you go.

At home, or anywhere else?

Try the sofa mode now. You get the same stories and pictures without leaving the couch. Then tell us what you think.

Play along

Stories come first. The game is a light layer on top.

  • Place a bet on the mystery at the start of a walk.
  • Answer a question at each stop to win a clue and a passport stamp.
  • Earn points and a rank, from Rookie to Master sleuth.
  • Put your clues in order in the final challenge.
  • Collect badges and see them in your profile.

Has this happened to you?

Have you ever visited a place and only later found out what you missed?

Plans and the waitlist

We are not taking any payments. At the end of a walk you will see some plans and prices. That is a test: we want to learn what people would want.

After a walk you can pick a plan and join the waitlist. We will email you when there is more.

Where our stories come from

Our stories are compiled from publicly available sources and have not yet been reviewed by a subject-matter expert, so details may contain errors. If you spot one, tell us.
